Airbrushing fondant; why does mine come out looking "wet"?

When I've airbrushed (I'm new at this obviously! haha!) on my fondant cakes, it always comes out looking slimey! Ew! And it'll take several hours to dry. I'm using food coloring and water.

A few reasons may be your problem. One is as the answer above, the other too much pressure on the gun, keeping the color too long in one area, spray lightly you can always go back, or your too close, see if that works. Air brushing is fun but it takes a few tries to get it right.
