silicone bakeware setting off smoke alarm?

I washed our new bakeware and set out to start baking now that it would be easier with the silicone stuff. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the muffins stuck to the muffin pan, the banana bread came out okay, but the bloody pie & square pan set off our smoke alarms!
I had the oven set to 400 degrees F, so I don't think it was too high of temp., but when they started smoking, they had only been in the oven for 5-7 minutes!

Sounds like those items are defective and you should return them to the store or contact the manufacturer. Out of curiousity, what brand of bakeware is it?

Even if they had not smoked up your house, if it's giving off fumes or gases and you and your family eat the food you make in them, you could get really sick. I say contact the manufacturer right away. There may be a recall on the products.
