How much would you pay for this cake for a baptism family celebration?
I'm 15 and have made quite a few cakes, mostly for fun, but recently my baked goodies have earned some money from relatives. Whenever it's made to sell to someone, I make sure it's exactly what they wanted and more. An old choir director of mine from church has been talking to me about making a cake for her son's baptism, and she asked for a cross-shaped white cake with lemon curd filling, buttercream frosting, and her son's name with the date of baptism. She's a pharmacist with quite a large house, so I know she has a good amount of money, but I don't know how much to ask for for this cake (assuming everything comes out perfectly).
Everything from scratch, of course
I would not consider her ability to pay for the cake on what she does for a living as a gauge for what to charge. If you plan on charging for future baked goods, you must charge the same for everybody. Don't be afraid of charging what your skills are worth.
If she wanted to go to a professional baker instead of you, she would have.
Cost of ingredients, plus your time would be 30-40% over.
